Our Pastoral Search Team is gathering weekly now to review, evaluate, and interview candidates responding to our call and posting, which is now on nine job posting boards nationwide.
We started receiving candidate profiles on February 13, 2021, and two months later we can say that we have gotten some very good feedback about the communication and online presence from those who’ve contacted us. I also believe this UCC Medfield team, with varied experiences and backgrounds, has come together well and shares useful, constructive feedback around the table. Bill and Minta are leading us through a sound process, as we prayerfully ask God to guide us through this work to identify the pastor who He has chosen for our church. And finally, we do appreciate prayers and support from all our members in this very important task.
Pastoral Search Team
Our Pastoral Search Team is well underway and has been meeting weekly since mid-January when the team was finalized. Bill Sobo and Minta Hissong have skillfully brought us together and led us through preparation and training, and now into the candidate evaluation and interview process. The rest of the team includes Alex vonBalmoos, Julie Maviglia, Zach Barrows, Cathy Chung, and Dan Ott, plus Steve Carlson and Arturo Rodriguez.
Much work went into pre-launch preparation: Completing the Local Church Profile, updating our Web site pages with the job description, our team profiles, and applicant process. It represents us very well. That enabled us to post the role of Lead Pastor, Community Life and Worship on 9 job boards throughout the country.
We began to receive candidate profiles in mid-February, while we continued to train ourselves, including a mock interview with a local UCC Pastor who volunteered to be our test case on February 25th. It was good practice and surfaced valuable discussion afterward about how we want to approach things together when we are “live” with actual candidates.
To date, we have evaluated six candidates, and continue to receive more resumes and applications. There is a lot of reading, reviewing, and mouse-clicking going into each team meeting, but a rich dialogue and prayerful conversation is emerging, and encouraging us all that the Lord will lead us to a good match.
We gratefully invite your continued prayers for insight and wisdom for all of us in this important process!
