Children's Ministries Annual Events
Blessing of the backpacks
On the last Sunday in August, children are invited to bring their backpacks to church for a special blessing during the service as they prepare to head back to school.
Bible presentations
To help nurture our children in their relationship with Jesus Christ, twice a year we present gift Bibles to them during the worship service. On the last Sunday in September, we present gift Bibles to our fourth graders and on Mother’s Day, we present kindergartners with their own gift story Bibles. Each child’s parents are invited to participate in this presentation, as we recognize the parents' role as the primary Christian educator of their child and the partnership of the church with each family.
Heifer Sunday
In October, our Sunday School students learn about Heifer International, a global nonprofit organization working to eradicate poverty and hunger through sustainable, values-based holistic community development. On Heifer Sunday, our children share what they've learned about Heifer International with an animal parade and litany during both worship services, followed by A Living Gift Market. Since 1994, UCC Medfield has raised over $210,000 for Heifer.
