UCC Medfield's Missions Programs
WORLD MISSION PROGRAMS Church World Service Partnership Blanket Sunday provides blankets and shelter materials as disaster relief and supports self-help weaving and sewing projects through CWS partner agencies. Emergency Disaster Relief - In response to natural disasters such as earthquakes and floods, and most recently the tsunami disaster, CWS conducts special “disaster relief” appeals and contributes emergency funds. One Great Hour of Sharing supports the mission work of the UCC and CWS by bringing resources to needy people around the world. Heifer Project For five decades HP has helped people around the world become more self reliant through the gift of animals and training in their care. Continued support from churches and others has made it possible for HPI to provide food and income-producing animals to more than a million families in need. This is the major stewardship effort of our Sunday School classes that culminates in our Living Gift Market in October. Our Church’s Wider Mission A generous portion of our financial resources is allocated to the United Church of Christ in support of Our Church’s Wider Mission (OCWM). The combined resources of the UCC churches enable us to collectively take part in healing and teaching, worshipping and seeking justice, saving lives, restoring hope, showing the light and love and glory of God. Financial support of OCWM enables our congregation to reach beyond our local community and touch lives around the world in the name of Christ. United Church of Christ Sponsored Special Offerings Neighbors in Need serves the needs of the poor in the United States by providing material resources and by supporting anti-poverty and social justice initiatives. Christmas Fund – This offering is received Christmas Eve and is used to address the financial needs of retired clergy and their spouses throughout the UCC. Strengthen the Church – Offerings are used to start new UCC churches where they are needed in our country, and to provide for the trained pastoral leadership required by each new church. World Vision World Vision is a non-profit agency whose mission is to serve the poorest of the poor and demonstrate God’s love to hopeless people around the globe. Our church is proud to be an ongoing contributor to this worthwhile organization and its programs such as: Child Sponsorship links individuals and churches with poor children who need assistance and encouragement to build a more hopeful future.
