Old Friends and New
While I can’t report anything dramatic has happened, I have enjoyed all the people that I have met this week. Yesterday I ran into the former manager of the Children of War Center, Joseph, who is now in Kampala and today, Carolyne Siganda who is the WVUS rep that I work with in Washington D.C., arrive from Kenya and I will spend some time with her and James, the leader of the northern district for WVU to plan for the future. I continue to be impressed with the passion, commitment, and diligence which the staff at all levels displays.
Tomorrow morning I lead morning devotions, lead a training block on caregiving for those in charge of spiritual nurture, meet with Carolyne and James, and then head to Kampala where I will spend the weekend. Through Michael Olbash's help, I hope to meet with Denis Kirabo, one of he Ugandan muscians that shared worship with us in September, tomorrow night. Tonight I had dinner with Cameron, the WV New Zealand staff person that I mentioned in a previous post. We had an interesting conversation about his work and his past experience. It turns out that we was in Cambodia for a number of years working for a different organization and was familiar with White Lotus, the ministry to child prostitutes in Phnom Penh that Donna Matson is involved with and which the church has supported financially. I really do love meeting people from all over the world and finding out about their lives. I am spending Saturday with Fulukas and his wife Miriam and their ministry to child prostitutes, Destiny Women, a ministry that Michelle and Craig Luhrmann have been supporting.
