Deep Water Wells and Rain

It’s funny how wrong your imaginings of a place can be. For example, I thought that Ethiopia was going to be hot and dry but this time of year it is green and cold. Last night was the first night that I was really cold when I went to bed. I had two blankets on me and finally warmed up. When I went outside this morning I could see my breath! At 9 degrees north latitude in August. I asked my hosts what they guessed the temperature was and they thought it was about 10 degrees C, which computes to 50F!

Made It to Ethiopia

Although I had viritually no access to the internet the past week, the time has been wonderful. The World Vision staff in Kenya and Ethiopia have been great. The hard part, really, is saying “good-bye” to them. We really get to know one another over our travels and I always feel a little teary when I have to leave.

Day 5: Children of War Center

I arose to a beautiful Friday. There was not a cloud in the sky, quite a change from the rest of the time I have been here. Yesterday it didn’t rain, but there were times when it looked as though it would, at least in the morning. In any case, it was a great way to spend my last full day in Gulu.
