Without the cross, Christianity would be a religion of cheap grace. The cross goes against the grain of any human being. It is not natural. And if, in the postmodern era, it may seem as if religion is once again acceptable and natural…it has to be pointed out that a religion of the cross cannot be natural; the cross constitutes a permanent danger to any religiosity.
