Almighty
and everlasting God, you are always more ready to hear than we to pray,
and to give more than we either desire or deserve: Pour upon us the
abundance of your mercy, forgiving us those things of which our
conscience is afraid, and giving us those good things for which we are
not worthy to ask, except through the merits and mediation of Jesus
Christ our Savior; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
Thought for the Day
We learn by the bitter experience of temptation that the spiritual iife is not a matter of devout feeling or mere desire to be good. It is through temptation that most of us comprehend how serious a matter it is—a very matter of life and death, involving struggles for survival which are fierce and primitive.”
—Reginald Somerset Ward
Thought for the Day
Oh God, save me fro myself, save me from myself…this masterful self which manipulates your creation…this self which throws the thick shadow of its own purposes and desires in every direction in which I try to look, so that I cannot see what it is that you, my Lord and God, are showing to me. Teach me to stand out of my own light, and let your daylight shine.
—Austin Farrer
