Confirmation
This two-year process of spiritual formation invites students to explore the meaning and practice of discipleship in order for them to choose to make an authentic, meaningful public profession of faith in Jesus Christ and be received as active members of the church. The curriculum is designed to help students find themselves in God's story and to claim it as their own.
Year 1: 8th Grade Confirmation
Classes meet from September to April on Mondays from 5:30-7:15 PM (Focus on Youth schedule). This year of discussion and study includes a chronological storying method to connect students to God's Big Story. Theme for Year 1 include:
- Who is God - images of God's nature and character, what is God like and what God desires for the world.
- How the individual stories of the Bible fit into the greater Story, providing a timeline/framework that allows a foundation for future understanding.
- God's bigness and His provision for us.
- Finding ourselves inside The Story.
- How God speaks to us through His Word.

Year 2: 9th Grade Confirmation
The second year of preparation for Confirmation builds on the foundation from Year 1. Classes are held on Sunday evenings, September through May, from 6:30-8:00 PM. This year of discussion and study invites students to form, reform, and articulate a beginning theology as we wrestle with key questions of the Christian faith. At the close of the 9th grade year, students are invited to make their own decision about confirming their faith. A service that includes Confirmation occurs in May.
Both 8th and 9th grade confirmation preparation classes have significant attendance and participation requirements for students (and some for their parents as well).
