Soup To Go Volunteers Needed
STG currently has two ministries: The Shelter Team partners with the “Friends of Boston Homeless” to provide hardy meals to serve at the Woods Mullen and Long Island Shelters in Boston. In March we are scheduled to prepare and serve lunch at the Woods Mullen shelter on the 3rd and 17th. Sign up sheets for cooking (lunch) at 7:30 AM (5 cooks age 10 and up) or delivering and serving from 9:30-1:00 (6 people, middle school w/parent) are in the narthex. We also have a special opportunity on March 31 to help serve lunch at City Mission Society’s Pilgrim Church in Boston, leaving UCC at 8:45 and arriving back here at 2:00. The Street Team serves the homeless of Boston near South Station and Boston Common on the 2nd Saturday of each month. We gather at church at 5:30 PM and carpool in to deliver bottled drinks, packaged snacks, underwear, toiletries, blankets and sweatshirts and return about 8:30 PM. We will be going in on March 10, April 14 and May 12. We continue to collect men’s and women’s briefs, dark colored sweatshirts, gently used seasonal items, new shoes and sneakers (size 9 1/2 and 10 1/2), and travel sized toiletries. Donations may be left in the baskets in the narthex.
