Discipleship
The United Church of Christ in Medfield, rooted in the
Trinitarian-Congregational tradition, is a discipleship church of 450 members
from a wide variety of church backgrounds based on the model set forth by
Michael Foss at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Burnsville, MN. We believe
that we are called to be disciples of Jesus Christ in the world; that each
person in the congregation is called and gifted to do ministry, and the clergy
equip and train the laity to be the ministers of the church in their everyday
world. As a means of becoming disciples and growing in our faith we believe in
practicing the Six Marks of Discipleship: daily prayer, weekly worship, daily
Bible reading, serving at and beyond The United Church of Christ in Medfield,
relating with others to encourage spiritual growth, and giving generously.
Through the practice of these spiritual disciplines we believe that God will
form us into a faithful and fruitful people, and that God’s love will spread and
transform the world.
