This year's stewardship campaign kicks off on October 14th and culminates with Stewardship Sunday on November 4th. The stewardship team will be posting a weekly blog during this time to communicate about stewardship and the 2018 theme: Love Comes First. Read this Week's Blog Post.
Sanctuary Choir Rehearsal Schedule
The Sanctuary Choir has begun rehearsals and will be singing anthems and responses every Sunday through Christmas Eve.
Any member of the congregation is welcome to join us for our Fall Festival, and later for the Advent and Christmas season. We rehearse on Thursdays at 7:30 pm, and Sundays at 8:15 am, before singing at the 9:30 am service. We will also be participating in the annual Carol Sing on Friday, December 7 at 7:30 pm. Feel free to talk to Natacha on any Sunday after the service, or just come to a rehearsal and experience the joy of singing!

Dignity Matters October Drive
Dignity Matters is a non-profit organization that collects feminine hygiene products and underwear for women and girls who are homeless or living in very low -income situations, in order to help them stay healthy, regain self-confidence, and live with basic dignity. Read more about this month's drive and supplies that are needed.
UCC New Life Furniture Bank Volunteer Day - This Saturday, October 20
New Life is in need for able-bodied volunteers (men, women, and high schoolers) to staff a truck crew and pick up furniture from donors. They are having to limit the number of clients they can serve as a result of not having volunteers. Sign up or contact Wendy Greaves at 617-909-6067 with questions. This month New Life is in need of gently used pots and pans, twin and double-bed sheets, towels, silverware, and drinking glasses. Drop off at the New Life Warehouse (105 Elm Street, Walpole) on Saturdays from 9 am-11:30 am or in the box marked “NLFB” in the closet outside of Fellowship Hall. New Life is also again collecting Shaws Stickers in the Church Lobby.

Heifer Petting Zoo - This Sunday, October 21 from 10:15 am - 11:15 am

It's Heifer month at UCC Medfield! Our Children's Ministries students are learning about some of the income-producing animals Heifer uses like chicks, sheep, and goats to improve the lives of those living in poverty. To bring what they are learning about to life, we are hosting a petting zoo on Sunday, October 21st. Join us after worship for some hands-on fun with these cute animals!
Christmas Play Casting - This Sunday, October 21
Calling all children in grades 3-5! Casting for this year's Christmas play will be held on Sunday, October 21 from 10:45 am - 11:30 in the Sanctuary. The play will be presented during both services on Sunday, December 9. We are blessed to have Judy Weiner directing the play again this year, assisted by Joan Parsons. Rehearsals will be held from 10:45 am - 12 pm on the following Sundays: October 28, November 4, 11, 18, 25, and December 2. The dress rehearsal will be held on the morning of Saturday, December 8. Attendance at all rehearsals is strongly encouraged, but is mandatory for the dress rehearsal and plays. If you have any questions, please contact Liz Lisciandra.
Women's Ministry Bunco Night - Wednesday, October 24 from 7 - 9:30 pm
Join us for our Kick Off Event for Women’s Ministries at the home of Alexandra Compton (15 Stagecoach Road, Medfield.) No skill required! Bring friends and come to socialize and meet other women in our UCC community. This month we are once again supporting Dignity Matters. At this time they are in particular need of pads (all types, except liners), Depends type underwear, and new underwear (women’s sizes). Next Date for Soup to Go - Saturday, October 27
Kids ages 10 and up are invited to cook with us! We are in need of servers for this Saturday. Please consider signing up today. Cards - Along with the meals, we also pass out hand-made, encouraging cards to the women at the shelter. The cards have become something the women really look forward to when we visit, so we'd love to have one for each of the 70-75 women. Cards and toiletries can be dropped off in the Church Lobby.
Mission Possible 2018 - Saturday, November 3
Our annual day of service with opportunities for all ages at UCC, in our community, and beyond. The day begins at UCC with a continental breakfast (7:30 am), short worship service (8 am), and group picture (8:15 am). Then we will head out to serve. Childcare will be available. Winter Get Away at Great Wolf Lodge - January 20 - 21, 2019
Join us for a fun-filled night away at Great Wolf Lodge in Fitchburg for Martin Luther King Weekend. UCC Medfield has 10 rooms reserved at a special rate of $185 for the night including tickets to the indoor water park (up to 5 people). Food is not included in the cost. New Interim Minister of Music
We are pleased to announce that Natacha Rist will be our Interim Minister of Music through the end of December. In this role she will lead the music for the traditional Sunday morning worship service and for the three Christmas Eve services. She will also conduct the adult choir, including rehearsal, and will provide organ and piano accompaniment for the traditional service. Natacha has held several Interim Music Director positions at Boston area UCC churches. She has earned Degrees in Music from the Paris Music School and Boston University. Please join us in welcoming Natacha to UCC Medfield! We’d like to thank the Search Committee who drove the process that brought Natacha to us. Alex Compton, Steve Groff, Heather Krauss, Pastor Phil, and Barbara Yates served on the Search Team.

Operation Undie Drop
Every day we reach into a drawer full of fresh, clean underwear but for people experiencing homelessness, underwear is a luxury. Please consider donating a new pair of underwear (sizes S-XXL) in the bin located in the church Lobby. The items will be shared with the men and women of the Woods Mullen and Southampton Shelters.
The Medfield Food Cupboard – October Update
This month the Medfield food cupboard is looking canned tuna (packed in water), rice (bags, pilaf), pasta sauce, spaghetti, chili, beef stew, jelly/jam, juice (bottles and boxes), kid friendly cereal, and hot cereal. Thanks to the community's generosity, we are currently fully stocked on soup. Please place your donations in the baskets located in the corner of the Lobby marked for the Food Cupboard. Next distribution dates are October 18 and November 1. The Food Cupboard is always looking for volunteers to help sort and distribute the donations.
