BELIEFS AT UCC MEDFIELD
The United Church of Christ in Medfield is rooted in the Trinitarian-Congregational tradition. We recite the Apostle's Creed as a way of professing our faith with not only our present community, but also with the global, historic community of the Christian faith.
The Apostle's Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; he descended into hell; on the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty; from there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic* Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

Baptism
Baptism is a Covenant between an individual and God. It is God’s word to us, proclaiming our adoption by grace and our word to God, promising our response of faith and love. The Sacrament of Baptism also includes promises for the church and individual or family to be bonded together. Persons of all ages can be baptized at UCC Medfield. Non-members are encouraged to seek membership as soon as possible after being baptized.
Communion
UCC Medfield celebrates the Sacrament of Communion during worship on the first Sunday of the month at the 9:30 am traditional service, the first and third Sundays at the 11 am praise service, and on other special occasions such as the Maundy Thursday service. We invite all Christians to celebrate communion with us. The fifth grade Sunday School class receives a special five-week training class about the Lord’s Supper which culminates in their participation in the Maundy Thursday communion service. If you have any questions concerning this sacrament, please contact the pastor.
